The warm day wrapped around you making you feel like everything was going to be ok… no matter what. Nothing could stop Jaimie and John from getting married. They have been in love since they were teenagers, so their commitment to one another was finally etched in stone before their friends and family at the Villa Barone Hilltop Manor in Mahopac, NY. Here are just a few of their many photos that lay the foundation of their opening chapter as a newly married couple…

Finally, it was great to work with my good friend Anthony Quintano of Quintano Media (on the left). Anthony is a social media guru who knows just about everybody a person should know. It was also nice to meet some new additions to his team… Dan Nguyen and Brian Defrees.

For me, Independence Day is my favorite holiday. No presents, no pressure… nothing more than joyous time with family and friends. Megan and Joe recently tied the knot in the Hudson Valley at the Eagles Nest. I was proud to be there with them to capture their wedding photographs and spend the day sharing the joys of their emotional ceremony and exciting reception. It was also a pleasure to meet Jeff and Stephanie of The DJ Solution. Their organization and presentation was a breath of fresh air… not too over the top and not too calm… JUST RIGHT.

Anna and Ben… All-American couple. Their love for one another began when they were 15 at camp… All these years later, they are still together! A few weeks ago I headed down to their New York City apartment to capture some images of them before their wedding and they took me to a few of their favorite places…

Wait… Did That Just Happen???

Lesson learned… no, “I told you so” comments needed.

Earlier this month I was shooting a wedding for one of my favorite couples at a venue right around the corner from my home. I did as I always do… I brought my laptop to back up the wedding images during some of my down time. You have to know how obsessive I am about it… I back up the images 5 times and triple check each one before I erase the memory cards. Again, obsessive, but I am scared to death of losing images.

After the wedding was over, I packed up my stuff and headed out the door, but not before taking a few more pictures.

Fast forward an hour or so… I unpack my stuff to charge batteries, have a Sam Adams, and start the transfer of images to my hard drive system from the MacBook Pro laptop…. except… it’s not there. GONE!… Gasping for air… GONE!

Slowly, it starts to set in what just happened. My first reaction was… “did I back everything up like I always do? ” Yes… thankfully. Well, so I thought. I had every ORIGINAL RAW FILE from NoDo Photography backed up, but there were three weddings completely culled, edited, exported, resized, ready to blog… GONE. I lost every personal picture I took within the last 6 months…. GONE. I lost the last 2 years of my lesson plans from teaching. I lost settings on my laptop… the kind that can be backed up. GONE!

I have begun to get myself out of the hole I created for myself, but not without a heavy price. Namely my sanity from a lack of sleep to get these weddings re-edited. I know what I need to do so this never happens again… but it was a terrible lesson to learn. Jacob… #FAIL

BTW… did I mention it happened on my birthday. My 30th birthday …

Gladys and Shane are ready… ready to share their images with the world. Their perfect day started and ended at the New Haven Lawn Club in New Haven, Connecticut. The weather was amazing with blue skies and comfortable temperatures. Thank you guys for having me along to spend the day with you. This was my first time working at the New Haven Lawn Club and you were right, it was absolutely beautiful

DD Nickel stayed until the ceremony was over to retouch Gladys’ makeup… above and beyond!
