My Favorite Subject

On Friday, Diana and I spent the evening in the city walking around, having a tasty dinner, and meeting up with good friends. I brought my new Nikon D3s with me to take a few test shots of my favorite subject!

Like anything of real quality, the longer you have something and the more you use it, the more you learn to enjoy it and appreciate it for all that it is. So far today has been a day of slowing down… today Diana and I are taking a moment to breath and enjoy having each other close to the other because sometimes it doesn’t always happen that way.

Lazy Sunday? Anything But Lazy…

It’ so close I can smell it… the roasting turkey in the oven, homemade stuffing, deserts, and rising bread by the window. It’s so close I can hear it… the Latin music playing throughout my mother and father-in-law’s house, my sister telling me about her grades and middle school drama, and the pattering of familiar feet. It’s so close I can feel it… my father’s arms around me knowing how proud he is of me, the emotional Grace my father in law gives every year as we thank God for all of the gifts we are given, and my wife squeezing my hand under the table letting me know she’s by my side through the thick of life. Thanksgiving is by far my favorite holiday. No pressure, just family and remembering what really matters in the craziness of daily life.

Everyone who knows me understands just how hard I have been working getting photos finished, papers graded, athletes prepared… I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am for this Thanksgiving to be coming. Diana deserves it… deserves me all to herself with no distractions.

So, on this Sunday, I am busting hump to get stuff done: photos completed, uploaded, exported, ready for print. DONE… The end is in sight, beautiful. I love you and I am so excited for this vacation!

Stephen and Madeleine: Westchester Wedding

Stephen and Madeleine had a picture perfect wedding day in Westchester… the weather was great, the Fordham Church where Stephen attended college during his Undergrad was beautiful, the reception venue was beautiful. I love photographing weddings in Weschester County where I live… and this wedding was even that much more special as both Stephen and Madeleine are friends of my wife and myself. And having other friends at the wedding made it extra fun to be there capturing fabulous images.

By the way, I have to give a HUGE shout-out to NICOLE TAYLOR for stepping in last minute for this wedding. She did it on a last minutes notice because someone else backed out last minute. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

2 years of marriage!

It’s hard to imagine that my wife and I celebrated two years of marriage last week. I couldn’t ask for a better partner to share my time and create lasting memories that will become the stories we tell our grandchildren.

Diana, to me you are beautiful, special, important, kind, generous, wonderful, caring, gentle, comforting, understanding, genuine, amazing, insightful, funny, loving, sexy….

Thank you for being my everything and I’m sorry this took me a week to put up on the blog.

Feeling a bit uncomfortable!

I can’t begin to tell you how happy I am the weekend is finally here! The weekdays feel uncomfortable to me. It’s the kind of uncomfortable you feel when you are wearing a wool sweater in 60 degree weather. First you itch… then you sweat. But I am better now… today is Friday. Today, at 6 p.m. my wonderful wife will walk through the door with a smile that reaches from the Pacific to the Atlantic and say in the sweetest voice imaginable what I have waited to hear all week; “JACOB!” That simple call of her voice alone melts my heart and calms my soul. At that moment, I know that everything is going to be ok.

I love my wife, I love my life!

Mini Vaca

This past weekend Diana and I made a trip to Upstate, NY to visit with friends and family as well as take a mini vacation from the hustle and bustle of life. Our trip to the Sagamore in Bolton Landing, NY included a tasty dinner, a massage for Diana and a nights sleep that didn’t include an alarm for me (even though I still woke up around 5 a.m).

Here are a few images I took at while Diana slept the morning away. I was hoping for some sort of mild temperature to take pictures of the grounds but the weather wasn’t cooperating. The morning was FRIGID cold and the wind was strong enough to blow you off your feet.

Room service brought tasty food to our doorstep.

Autumn Hike: Slideshow

Today Diana and I went hiking with her awesome friend from work at a local spot we climb every other week or so. It’s close, fairly quick (30 if running, 50 if walking with a rest at the top).

There are so many deep thoughts that run through my mind when I hike that I would love to blog and truly open up… but I think I am going to let the pictures and the music tell the story for me. I know the pictures go slowly, but that’s the point.
