Every time I turn around, I hear someone saying ” I can’t wait for Spring! I’m so tired of the cold.” While I can understand the resentment towards the bitter days that nip at your nose like an angry beast, the mass amounts of snow that impede daily routines, or the monthly heating bill you receive that makes you just as warm in the face as the floor vents that keep you toasty and comfortable, I can honestly say that SPRING CAN WAIT FOR ME.
Recently, I was chosen as one of 90 other photographers across the country to be a Thirst Relief Mentor which was a HUGE honor. Thirst relief International helps the 1.1 billion people who lack the ability to find safe drinking water through “a locally manufactured biosand filter or a well repaired by nationals” (taken from http://thirstrelief.org/). Seeing my picture there with some of the greatest photographers in the industry is sure to be one of the highlights of the year for me. So please give me a minute while I enjoy this high… yeah, SPRING CAN WAIT FOR ME.
The image below was todays featured image on http://www.jakeruns365.com/ If you don’t follow the site, it’s a documentary site that follows my journey to run 365 days in 2010. I take my Blackberry Tour with me and capture an image or two so I can remember my goals and stay motivated. Please be sure to check out the ARCHIVE page. Jake Runs 365 has really started to take shape… and so have I. My body has really begun to recover pretty quickly and I feel like I did when I was racing in college. When I am out running, things slow down… it’s my time to pray, relax, and plan my next step (sometimes, quite literally). I’m not sure where this road will lead me, but I am enjoying the journey. So, as I said before, SPRING CAN WAIT FOR ME.
